SCHOOL VISIT AT BANGALORE

JULY 18TH,2014

After our breakfast at Lemon Tree hotel, Bangalore, we visited Purnapramati School, Center for Integrated Learning. http://purnapramati.in/. This private institution emphasized a high degree of peer to peer instruction, collaborative learning and holistic/comprehensive education. We witnessed a special type of physical education game where some teachers participated.




For the afternoon session, Dr. Ashwin Mahesh of the Anad Foundation: (http://anafoundation.org), gave us a talk on the "Trends in Education in India". Dr. Mahesh presented various ways of solving societal problems like urban decay, transportation and environmental issues by using technology. He is a technologist and public policy researcher who has devoted his time to help his country India after serving as a NASA Astronomer and Climatic Science Specialist.

A Group dinner at  upscale Rajdhni-UB city ended the day.






BANGALORE ARRIVAL BLOG

Thursday July 17th, the cohort arrived Bangalore with Lufthansa flight 754 by 1:30 am getting to Lemon Tree hotel by 3:00 am. We got up early to have a first breakfast by 9:00 am. That was very tiring as I was sleeping and eating my Indian breakfast. We had buffet lunch by from 1:00 pm -2:00 pm which was followed by a talk "An Introduction to India: History and Culture".  Dr. Chirajavi Singh, who  our facilitator for this introductory talk was a former Ambassador of India to UNESCO. Dr. Singh-a Sheik intellectual philosophized about the concept of Karman (the innate nature of things). It was this concept that Indians own their ethos and coherence to .
Bangalore is referred to an both the Garden City and Silicon Valley of India. H ere is a synopsis of the city of Bangalore:

TEMPERATURE:  27 degree Celsius to 33 degree Celsius ( 80 to 91 degree Fahrenheit) for July and August.

The weather is pleasant but cloudy with showers expected intermittently.

Finally, we arrived Bangaluru, India 1:340 am. Journey was smooth as we were driven to Lemon Tree Hotel. So far we are having a busy but enjoyable time in India.
